Description

Added by Eric Bennett

This is a amazing warm swimming hole surrounded by a picturesque canyon. There is cliff jumping of all heights so you can test your fears!

If you find yourself in Chiriqui, Panama, Los Cangilones de Gualaca river canyon is a great spot to spend a carefree afternoon, about 40 minutes by bus from the David Terminal. The water is warm and welcoming, and also plenty deep, so don't worry about diving in.

This is a safe area for bringing camera gear, just keep an eye on it at all times. Particularly on the weekends, this is a popular site for families and children, although it is secluded enough for overnight camping, as well.

Getting here: By car, take the Pan-American highway east out of David. In 14 km you will reach Chiriqui, then go north to Gualaca. Signs in town will direct you to Los Cangilones de Gualaca, nearby, due north.

Cliff Jumping in Panama Reviews

This spot is amazing for its diving and swimming, but also a great spot to deep water solo boulder and there are spots to set up a long line over the water as well. Without a doubt a spot to visit (or even frequent) when in Chiriqui.

All of these reviews are correct, this place is awesome, water-shoes aren't a must but definitely help, and you can spend almost an entire day here exploring and swimming and jumping everywhere.

Don't forget your climbing shoes or a slack line! There's deep water soloing here and the potential to set up a cool high line. Awesome place!

We live in Boquete and I've been to the cangilones (the canyons) many times! You can walk down both ways of the river away from the canyons and you can find some great photo spots. I've seen multiple kingfishers there and a few iguanas.
