Description

Added by Kendra Reeder

This hike is about a mile up, with approximately 750 feet of elevation gain. This is a fun but challenging hike and ends with an absolutely gorgeous view!

This is a steep and rocky hike, but is well worth the absolutely stunning view of Perry County - including Shermans Creek and the Susquehanna River.

This particular trail is also part of the Appalachian Trail and the AT can be accessed part way up the trail if you wish to head north on the AT, otherwise the Appalachian Trail continues south after you reach Hawk Rock.

Parking is in the gravel lot adjacent to the recycling center.

Hike Hawk Rock, PA Reviews

Nice view from here, I remember it was a highlight of that day for me in my section hike of PA. Duncannon was fun as well, I enjoyed crossing the bridge but hated the stairs afterwards (going Northbound).

Moderately quick hike that leads to great views of the Susquehanna river and surrounding countryside. Plentiful parking and clear trail markers.
