Description

Frankfort Mineral Springs was used as a resort and spa starting in the mid 1800's. Now is is a great little hike with a beautiful waterfall.

Starting at the Frankfort Mineral Springs parking lot, this 1.2 mile loop winds along the creek and leads you up into the waterfall and old resort area.

After you reach this picture perfect spot, you can continue on the rest of the loop. This will take you through a patch of pines and down a nice little hill towards the ranger station. Here, the trail splits off and you want to go to the right to get back to your vehicle.

This is a great hike no matter what the weather or season is. It consistently surprises you each and every time you visit. In the summer it has beautiful foliage and the trail just pops with color. In the winter, the ice from the falls is breath taking and a must see if you are in the area.

Hike the Mineral Springs Loop Reviews

Easy and enjoyable! Our dog enjoyed it too!

Very easy and rewarding hike. Easily the best winter hike within a few miles of Pittsburgh. Be sure to go on a COLD day (20degrees or colder) to see the most amazing frozen waterfalls and the spring still shooting out water!!

I hiked this loop about a month ago and want to go back again soon. Both the history of the springs and the scenery make the grounds compelling. Also, I hiked the 6.2 Forest trail and it made for a challenge. If you are into advanced hiking, I'd highly recommend!
