Rock Run is a place that I would not turn down a chance to explore again and again.

Rock Run is a place that I would not turn down a chance to explore again and again. It is easy to get lost in your own thoughts reflecting on the beauty of the surroundings, swim in the always chilled waters, or get out your fishing pole and catch some trout during the season.

After making your way into Ralston, PA cross over Lycoming Creek on Thomas Street and follow it as it turns into Rock Run Road. After a little drive (one mile), you will eventually reach Miners Falls on your left, which is only the beginning of the awesome display. It is a convenient place to park, and a great spot to start exploring the most beautiful stream in the Loyalsock State Forest.

There are three falls (upper, middle, and lower) that fill crystal clear pools of water. They are a bit hard to get to, because of a steep walk on some slippery rock. When you get to the pools and finally jump in... All I can say, no matter how hot it is in the summer, the water will chill you to the bone.

Take your time and explore the area because there is so much to see along the way. There are no trails around the Stream and the surrounding rock is slippery, always be cautious of the depth of water you are jumping into, and keep a look out for the occasional snake. Camping is not permitted in this area.

After seeing someone post about this place on Facebook I had to check it out. The pictures of the water drew me in. The water is so clear, will take your breath away it’s so cold but absolutely stunning! I will say the drive up into the forest on just a touch larger than a single lane road was nerve wrecking when my little car encountered a dually truck 😱. I took my mother with me who is 59 and if you park at each level of the falls it is a simple walk down and back up to the car. We didn’t really explore this time just did some relaxing. I’m not usually one for full on swimming but this place drew me in and despite the cold temps it did not disappoint. It reminds me of “slide rock” in Arizona you can actually slide down the rocks with the current like a water slide in some areas. Great place for jumping, wading, hanging...really a place for everyone.

Rock Run is definitely a great spot to explore, there are several small tributaries to Rock Run that are interesting to hike. If you are in the area, it is a worth while spot to check out.
