Surf the longest wave in the world

Puerto Malabrigo, Peru

Description

Added by Friederike Kosche

You can find the supposedly longest left hand break in the world in Puerto Maligbro close to the Peruvian town of Chicama. Catch the 2km long wave and enjoy some fresh Ceviche after your surf session.

You can have the best view over the entire spot when you walk direction north, just outside of the small village and onto the cliff.

The best point to drop in with your surfboard is a couple of hundred meters up the beach. If you hit a great swell, you can have the waves carry you back all the way to the main beach.

If you don't want to walk all the way back up the beach (or paddle your way back), there are several hostels that are now offering a boat transport that stays with you in the water and brings you back to the best spot, just like a water taxi.

There are several hostels in town where you can stay. If you are coming with your own vehicle, I suggest to wild camp at the northern end on the cliff with gorgeous views.

If the swell is not the best, you can also hike up the little hill you can see looking up north for an even better overlook.
