My First time on Terminator!!

This is a story about my first time on the ski run Terminator which is a great single black diamond that can prepare you for back country or very difficult runs.

By: Quin K. + Save to a List

I was skiing with three friends (I will be calling them D,H,and N) and I was just starting to ski black runs as this was a few ski seasons ago. D was a very experienced skier and decided that H,N,and Me would be ready to go onto this run and would learn a lot from it. I ski at Shames Mountain a small hill in Terrace B.C. and although it has some of the best powder in the world it is not a very well signed hill. Luckily our group was with D how knew his way and where to go. After getting up the t-bar we skied over to where the black runs are located and from this point D told us to take our ski/snowboards off (I am a skier) because we would have to hike up to the run even though it was on the hill. It was about a 5 minute walk and quite enjoyable since I have never done anything like this at the time. Once getting up to the run I spot a sign saying that we are almost about to enter the end of the ski hill boundary if we go any further. We didn't go any further but I just wanted to add this part to the story to point out the fact that this run is right on the edge of the hill. I soon found out that to get to the run we had to ski through a large area of trees which scared me a little but I decided to go anyway since I already hiked up to the run. Once following D through the trees we got to the begging of the run which I have to say looked extremely awesome. I could only see a small section of the run because there was a huge ledge and I couldn't see after that. We skied over to the ledge and it was honestly the prettiest view I have ever seen on the hill and Shames is the prettiest hill I have ever seen. Picture this the best conditions imaginable, crystal blue sky's and sparkly powder. I could see forever. Two mountains made a valley and the sun was right in between them. This is what I was seeing and It was absolutely breathtaking. We stood in the shower of sun for just a brief moment but I will never forget it. We continued skiing right over the ledge until we came to the end of the run which is a huge gully. I LOVED this run and it is one of my favorites runs I defiantly recommend it.
