An Into the Wild freshmen orientation backpacking trip!

This was a three day, two night backpacking trip in Point Reyes. We went in at the Point Reyes Hostel on the Coast Trail, and spent our first night at Coast Camp. The next day, we took the Coast Trail to Wildcat Camp, where we spent our second night. On day three, we hiked out and we were picked up somewhere near Five Brooks.

On our second night, a kind man sat around our campfire with us and shared stories. He lives in San Francisco and works as a DJ (shout out to you DJ Jamie Jamz). He told us that there was a small lake with a rope-swing. On our way out the next day, we passed by the lake and were able to find the rope swing! Super fun.

The weather was damp, breezy, and rainy! Unseasonable for mid-September. One afternoon we were graced with the sun, and spent several hours swimming, body surfing, and splashing around in the ocean.

We saw all sorts of wildlife: dolphin, deer, raccoons, small jellyfish, various birds of prey.

Tips:-FIRES can only be made with DRIFTWOOD!-Make sure to put ALL your food in the wildlife boxes! Squirrels and raccoons will chew through a tent / backpack to get to your food.-There are bathrooms... but make sure to bring your own hand sanitizer and toilet paper.-Didn't have any problems with bugs, but it doesn't hurt to bring mosquito repellent.
