Camp at Clear Lake State Park
Kelseyville, California
Description
Added by Alex E
Camp, Fish and Photograph California's largest natural fresh water lake.
Clear Lake State Park is only two hours from downtown San Francisco and Sacramento. The state park offers amazing opportunities to photograph deer in the area and pick blackberries for breakfast on a morning stroll. On my visit I saw over 15 deer and one buck in full velvet. The sunrise and sunsets are also spectacular to photograph. But, the main reason Clear Lake is so famous is the Bass fishing. Clear Lake was ranked as the number 3 lake in the country, and the number 1 lake in the west, by Bassmaster Magazine in 2016. Clear Lake has even been given the nickname, the Bass Capital of the West! Try and beat the 17 pound record on your next visit! From San Francisco, Clear Lake is an easy drive up the 101 or 29 right though beautiful wine country. The campsites are very pricey at 30 dollars a night, and the showers aren't free. Other than that it is a great place to camp, but make reservations on the weekend.
