A tough workout with an amazing view as a reward. You've been meaning to get in shape. Duration: 1 hour.

Rumor has it there are almost 300 stairs from top to bottom. This is a great place to get some exercise in if you're up for running or walking up the stairs. Do a few laps (roundtrip) and you'll be pretty happy with your workout. If you're really looking to get after it, throw in a few pushups and sit-ups at the top. On the weekends it can get a little crowded with people doing circuit training at the top. But hey, if that happens, take a look out at the scenic views of the bay and catch your breath for a second!

Walked it, did not run it. People who run it must have thighs of steel. Views are great though.

Ouch we didn't run these, but it was still pretty tiring. Everyone definitely wanted to get snacks afterwards

The run up is long, especially if you include the fairly significant him to get to the bottom of the steps, but the view is great. If you need a breather but don't want to stop running, try running back and forth along one of the streets that intersect with the steps.

Broken into a series of plateaus, this ascent up one of San Francisco's most manicured stairways is tough going. The stairs are in a crucible of mansion-level real estate, cute hedge rows and the more unruly Presidio, topping out to reward with a timeless view of the Bay.

Best stair workout! I stop halfway and add push-ups. Gorgeous views. Stash a water bottle and stretch after, your calves will thank you!

great views, great stairs. crowded on the weekends!

The rewarding view at the top of these stairs almost makes the hard work worth while. If you're planning to run them a few times, keep in mind that it can get crowded in the evenings and before work -- but that shouldn't stop you from your workout. The top of the stairs also provides easy access to the Presidio if you want to extend your run.

This is an awesome stair workout with incredible views of the San Francisco Bay. Lyon Street Steps is actually comprised of two sets of stairs - the bottom set is really steep and a killer workout. The top set is much more gradual and easier to tackle. Run a few laps up both and you'll be feeling it the next day for sure.

Settle in and learn to sit with the burn!

Awesome! Pace yourself for the long climb up. You can do the whole set of stairs in about two to three minutes.
