Description

Added by Brennan McDonald

This amazing hike combines a lush trail following a creek with a trail affording views of the Pacific Ocean and the Bay Area.

From the parking lot, take the connector trail towards the Peters Creek Trail for 0.4 miles. As you descend into a small valley, notice the sound of running water that appears. When you reach the first trail intersection, turn left on the Peters Creek trail. This will give you your first encounter of the creek. Best seen in the winter and spring, the trail will bring you to a lush valley through which the creek runs. Boulders covered in green moss have small waterfalls running over them, while ferns and large trees shade the area. Continue on the Peters Creek trail for 1.6 miles. Along this section, you will pass by green meadows, along with a small pond. Keep a lookout for California Newts on the side of the trail after a rainstorm. Soon, you will reach the ridge top, affording you views of the Pacific Ocean on clear days. Turn left on Ward Road, taking you through beautiful green hills. Next, turn right on the Hickory Oaks trail, which drops into a forested canyon. Then, turn right on Ward Road (for a second time), leading back up to the ridge top. Turn left on Long Ridge Road, and then right onto Long Ridge Trail. This brings you into the forested slopes of the ridge, which may be covered in moss during the winter and spring. Continue straight on this until you reach Peters Creek trail, bringing you again to the beautiful creek and valley. Go left and walk for 0.1 mile until the trail to the parking lot is reached. This will be marked with signs about the Grizzly Flat Parking lot and Skyline Boulevard.

Hike Peters Creek and Long Ridge Reviews

This is a very nice hike, you'll be walking amongst trees completely covered in moss. If you're feeling up to it, cross Skyline and hike through Steven's Creek County Park.

This a nice mostly shady hike where some of the hike is along a creek. Not many hikers on the trail.
