Description

A hidden waterfall in a quiet forest just steps from bustling Berkeley.

Park along the street in front of Codornices Park in Berkeley. Follow the stream to the left of the playground. Take the path up the hill to the right (don't head over the bridge on the left). Keep walking up multiple concrete stairs. After the first flight of stairs you'll see a path on the left that leads through a wooden gate. Take this path and keep heading up into the hills. Take any of the paths from here and they will lead you to a trickling waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Bring a book and relax by the falls, or grab a seat on one of the benches along the way. Enjoy the stillness, then when you're ready, head back the way you came.

Make sure to check out the park on your way to or from the waterfall. There are a ton of secluded picnic areas for day use, as well as a stream, baseball field, basketball court, playground, concrete slides (fun for all ages!), and hiking trails. Across the street is the Berkeley Rose Garden, which is also a must see and has a tennis court. Bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it with the kids!

Hidden Waterfall in Codornices Park Reviews

Brought some food and Snacks to enjoy at the picnic tables. Slid down the cement slide which was the highlight of the park. Cardboard was plenty. You’re not able to see the waterfall as it’s on marked private property.

It is in a local park and at first finding the waterfall was hard, (hidden ;) )so I asked someone, and you have to go through a private gate to find it! But overall beautiful and easy for kids, too. This is like a ten to fifteen minute hike if even that! Beauty right here in our backyard!

Go during rain season which is rare for us here
