Get amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge at this secluded and away from the crowds.

If you're looking for one of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marshall's Beach gives you just that without the tourist crowds of Baker Beach.

This small and hidden beach offers a narrow stretch of sand for those looking to throw a frisbee around or just hang out with friends. As it's tucked away next to some steep cliffs, it's quite tranquil with crashing waves being the only sound at times. There's also a stretch of black rocks that offer some interesting composition choices for photographers. If you're here during sunset, as the waves pull back from the sand, it provides a beautiful reflection of the Golden Gate Bridge.

To get here, park at one of two entrances found on Lincoln Blvd. One entrance is just south of Fort Scott, on the west side of the road near the "Coyote Crossing" sign, and the other is about .5 mile further down Lincoln Blvd. with a small "Batteries to Bluffs" sign on the west side of the road. Follow the Batteries to Bluffs Trail toward Marshall's Beach. Approximately 400 feet of stairs will take you from the cliff down to the beach.

Things to know:
  • Since it is a hidden and somewhat secluded beach, Marshall's Beach is known to attract nudists, so probably not the best place to bring children.
  • The stairs are well maintained, but may be a tough workout on the way back up for some.

Easy Parking

Take in a Sunset on Marshall's Beach Reviews

Pack in and pack out. Bring layers. There is maybe 3 days out of the year that the city gets so hot that you are able to come to the beach. The sunset is spectacular. One of my favorite spots. This view never gets old. I love the view of the bridge, sunset, and the sound waves of the water crashing. Parking can be tough and the restroom can be gross as this is getting really popular. Try to pack your things and bring it with you. People don’t want to clean after you and I am sure you don’t want to clean after them.

This is a wonderful spot to relax and watch the sunset. That being said, be careful if you bring kiddos, part of this beach has nakkie people :)

Get to see a unique perspective of the Golden Gate Bridge. Note that part of this beach is nude, but usually those that choose to do so are at the very end of the beach and try to isolate themselves from view of families.

Absolutely gorgeous views! Nice hike downhill. There were very few people there.

The beach area is amazing. Depending on the time you go, you may see a bunch of old naked white dudes enjoying life. Enjoy!

While the beach and bridge are a sight in themselves, it's not a great place to catch a sunset unless it's a clear or mostly clear day. Still beautiful, just not as colourful on a cloudy day.
