Sandboard the Brenton-On-Sea Dunes

Brenton-on-Sea, South Africa

Description

Added by Michael Gabbert

Shred some sand in this epic adventure along South Africa's coast.

Just west of the city of Knysna, halfway on the southern coast of South Africa, sits Brenton-On-Sea - a beach town on the Southern Ocean. Sand dunes and crashing waves dominate the scenery here, lending itself to a the thrilling experience of Sandboarding.

To get here you’ll head west on N2 from Knysna and exit towards Brenton-on-Sea on the right, directly after the N2 bridge along the lagoon. Follow this road towards the sea to the parking lot overlooking Buffalo Bay.

The sandboarding dunes are a ½ mile walk down the beach. From here it's self explanatory; climb up the dunes, strap on the board, fly down the hill and repeat. With the southern ocean on the horizon and 300 feet of downhill dunes directly in front, it's an epic view and fun adventure. Including the walk to and from the dunes along with the time spent boarding, its easy to spend 2-3 hours total enjoying the experience and taking in the views. Plan accordingly and enjoy!

Note: there are a couple outfitters/tours within Kynsna if you don't have a board.
