About this place

A beautiful valley with big views

If you're looking for a day in-between the big hiking days or a relaxing walk, Laterbrunnen is the place to be. Its one of those places that you always see in the pictures and I'll be the first to say it definitely lived up to its expectations.

Its a smaller town up in the mountains, that can be accessed by train (around $15 and 40 minutes) from Interlaken! There are many restaurants and shopping stores that can be accessed and the train will bring you directly into the middle of the town.

There are several hikes further up in the mountains if you're looking for something a little harder, that can be accessed by a short gondola ride to the rim of the valley for around $20-$30/one way. A trip to the top of the mountain is going to cost around $100/round trip. There are also trails leading out of the town if you're willing to do a big pull out of the valley.

However, if you're looking for a nice walk with some incredible views, there is a paved walking path that leads directly through the valley! The trail begins out of the center of town and walks past a few waterfalls and pastures while also exposing the big mountains in the background. There isn't one specific point that this trail begins, but it will be obvious as much of the foot traffic in the town is people going to walk the valley! There are maps that are available in local stores, as well as workers at the train station that will be able to point you in the right direction!

There are also small yellow signs posted along your walk with estimated times of duration (see pictures)! Follow signs for Stechelberg and that will take you through the valley!

Because this trail has such easy access you can walk as much or as little as you would like! The trail ends in Stechelberg with a point-to-point milage of around 4 miles however, you can stop a little before at a parking lot (which is also an access point for the gondola) and catch a bus back into town!
