As simple as the trail is, it is a steep and exhausting hike all the way to the top of one of the many Smoky mountains. What is most exciting and rewarding about this hike is the view from the top. Once you actually reach the peak you will be rewarded with a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains and a chance to "touch the sky". You will literally be in the clouds. The walk/hike up to the top is also rewarding, as you will be hiking along a creek that flows down the mountain and you will also have many other views. It's only 4 miles roundtrip, but it will feel a lot longer than that.
The trail is pretty self explanatory once you get on it. The trailhead can be reached from route 441 and is only 6 miles from the border of North Carolina. From the Sugarlands Visitor Center on Newfound Gap Road(also called 441) drive 6.7 miles south to arrive. You will possibly see a cluster of cars parked on both sides of the road so it it pretty easy to figure out that the trail is most like there. You will have to cross a roaring creek/river(not sure which of the two it is) to start the trail.
