Hike to a beautiful knob with wild Elk that roam the knob!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO HAVE A 4WD VEHICLE OR ALL WHEEL DRIVE.
The road to the trail-head can be very dangerous at times because of mud and debris, because of this an all wheel drive at least is very useful if you only have a 2WD car or truck I suggest only going in dry conditions.
When you get to the trail-head it is about a half mile to the tower to view the elk. Due to the wild nature of these Elk seeing them at all is a rare sight. Also because they are wild it means you are in their home so be cautious and do not approach any Elk that you see outside of the fence if they sense danger they can charge you and can be very deadly. For the best view times go near sunrise or sunset or during mating season. The tower provides viewpoints over most of the whole knob so you can see all the Elk. Because they Elk are protected you can not go on any of the fields at any time and taking anything from the park is a felony.
