Camp at Upper Madera Canyon
Redford, Texas
Description
Added by Lauren Bonczek
Wake up along the Rio Grande with gorgeous red canyon walls surrounding your tent!
As beautiful as Big Bend National Park is, if you want a campfire, get yourself over to the state park. 30 miles west of Lajitas, TX lies the Upper Madera Campground, a beautiful campground with drive up sites. From site 3 (our campsite), you have a sprawling, gorgeous view of the Rio Grande and red canyon walls. Each site is equip with a picnic table, pergola, and fire ring. Our campsite fit 3 cars and 3 tents. Check in at the Burton Warnock Center near Lajitas to pay for your site and hear about any ranger concerns or changed conditions. Not going to lie, this site was a bit hard to find, so check the map at the entrance of the park prior to venturing out! You lose cellphone service as soon as you get 500ft into Big Bend Ranch State Park. But the site is worth it! Happy camping!
