Crockett Gardens and Falls

This is a 7.6 mile out-and-back trail snaking along the banks of Lake Georgetown. The trailhead is located in Cedar Breaks Park. There is no fee to hike the trail however there are fees for camping, boating, or picnicking so be sure to tell the attendants you are just there to hike. Once through the gate, make the first left into the parking lot for the trailhead.

This hike is a section of the San Gabriel Goodwater Loop, a 26 mile loop around Lake Georgetown. This section of the trail is easy to moderate with slight elevation changes. The trail itself offers a fair amount of shade from the Cedar trees but can be extremely hot in the summer. Good tennis shoes or hiking boots are recommended as the trail is very rocky. After about a mile, the trail opens up around the cliffs of the lake to offer stunning views from several overlooks. Some of the cliffs are up to 100 ft from the water below and offer great spots to take in the sunset. If hiking with kids or pets, keep an eye on them as the overlooks do not have protection.

Once you have gone about 3 miles you will come across some remnants of an old homestead. You will see a sign pointing you to the short spur trail to reach the falls. The falls are located in a small cove off the lake offering a great place to dip your feet and cool off before you head back.
