The Upper Guadalupe River at Bergheim is located only 45 minutes north of San Antonio and 1.5 hours East of Austin. Kayak, Canoe or SUP this beautiful section of river for a relaxing afternoon paddle or a multi-day river camping trip.

Drive up to Bergheim Campgrounds located at 103 White Water Rd Boerne, TX 78006 for a safe place to park your vehicles. From Here you can rent kayaks, canoes or bring your own and can even arrange a drop-off or pick-up shuttle.

A short 3-mile paddle to Edge Falls road is a great afternoon adventure that can be done in anywhere from 2-5 hours depending on the paddler. This is a very scenic and fun section with even a small waterfall or two flowing into the river with good rainfall. An additional 5 miles will take you to Guadalupe River State park. Here you will find bathrooms, picnic tables and even hiking trails. This is a bit more challenging stretch of river with breath taking landscapes, 100' cliffs and the occasional creek that wanders off to the side with some great fishing. After that is mile marker 13 at Nichole's Landing or 18.6 at FM311. I would recommend both of these be planned as multi-day trips.

Be sure to thoroughly check weather conditions before planning to camp along the river. If the grounds are saturated the river is prone to flash flooding and can be extremely dangerous.

For camping along the river we are protected by what's called the "Gradient Boundary" here in Texas. Please familiarize yourself with this law before heading out on a river camping trip.

Great spot for our first time kayaking a river! We rented a tandem kayak from Bergenheim Campground and kayaked to the State park! We had a blast & great weather.
