Located in the limestone towers of Krabi, this temple will take your breath away- literally and figuratively.

From Krabi Town, take a taxi (or motorbike) to the Tiger Cave Temple parking area.  We hired a taxi and for 100baht round trip he took us there, waited while we explored, and then drove us back. Make sure to wear appropriate clothing as well.  This entire area is a temple, which means you need to dress modestly (shoulder and knees covered).

Once at the parking lot, you will then walk towards the main area of the cave.  The actual Tiger Cave is located on the left but we passed and headed straight towards the stairs.

Past the tiger cave, you will see a signpost indicating there are 1,237 steps to the top.  This is also on the left side and just past the sign the stair-master work out begins.  My friends and I decided to do this during the hottest part of the day, which I do not recommend.  On the way up you will most likely get harassed by monkeys so keep your important belongings hidden and don’t feed or tempt them with food.  The railing posts also indicate how many stairs you have completed which is a bit discouraging at the beginning but helps keep up the motivation once you’re over halfway.  Before you know it, you’ll be red and sweaty but at the top.  And luckily there is cold water waiting for you to drink.  And the view is definitely worth it- 360 views overlooking Krabi, the Ocean, and all the limestone formations.  We found a spot with a nice breeze to balance out the harshness of the sun, and stayed on the summit for quite a while enjoying the view and trying to stop sweating.

Back down the steps, we next headed to the actual Tiger Cave Temple.  It is build into the cliff below the summit you were just on.  The temple isn’t anything spectacular, but legend says there use to be a tiger that lived inside the cave.

Having your fill of the temple, you can then head back to Krabi Town and spend the remainder of your day cooling off in the AC or wandering around the markets that pop up in the evening.
