Rock Climb at one of the most accessible crags in the south of England, on some excellent limestone rock. This Gorge, the UKs Largest, offers great climbing for beginners on various difficulty sport routes and for advanced climbers on some serious trad routes and multi pitch routes.

The gorge is split into 2 sections, the north side and south side of the road – the north side is accessible year round, but the south side is subject to periodic closures and is worth checking with the entrance station if it is open (a general rule is that it is closed between march and June due to high tourism activity).

Access to your chosen crag is super easy. There are many parking spots alongside the road that are free to park, so you can almost just pull right up to the crag you want to climb and hop out. The difficulty seems to average around 6a/5.11 with many climbs above and below that grade.

The rock is in great condition and is good solid limestone, but always be sure to test a few holds and anchors as you go as standard practice for a well-used crag.

Beware of tourists and traffic on the road too. It can get a little busy and loud during the summer months. Other than that it’s time to climb! You can work your way up and down the various crags or do a multi-pitch to the top and hike back down. Enjoy!
