Enjoy sweeping views and pick your own campsite in this dispersed camping area.

If you haven’t been to Moab, UT then you are missing out. There is truly something for everyone in this breathtaking desert landscape which has become increasingly popular over the past several years. There are two major national parks nearby, Arches and Canyonlands, which are easily accessible from this camp. You’ll need four wheel drive to get to this spot, and you won’t be disappointed.

Start by heading out of Moab on Potash Road and drive along the Colorado River until you reach Jughandle Arch at the mouth of Long Canyon. Turn right and head into the canyon. There is no camping in the canyon, but once you are on top of the mesa, you are good to go. Enjoy the beautiful drive up the canyon and you’ll top out on the rim after about 10 miles. As you reach the rim, there are multiple dispersed camp sites on both sides, but camping on the left, right on the rim of the canyon cannot be beat. Enjoy views to the east of the La Sal mountains and watch as the canyons glow at sunset from your camp.

Based on the wonderful reviews, I hoped to stay here in Sept 2022 when we made our tour of the Utah Big 5. However, as we came in Long Canyon Rd. from UT 313, there were signs closing the area to camping to protect the bighorn sheep. Closure sign was just about where Deadhorse SP intersects Long Canyon RD and said no camping for next 5 miles, which took us to the top of the Potash Rd coming up from the canyon floor. Recommend 4WD past the closure signs and certainly was NOT suitable for the 39ft 5er we were towing. Otherwise, it is a BEAUTIFUL spot to view the canyon from the top,.

Can't complain at all about a view from your campsite over the canyon with the LaSal's in the background. Definitely arrive early for the weekend. You can also quickly get to Canyonland and Arches NP from this campground, as well as downtown Moab.

I've been going down to Moab for the last 10 years or so and this is by far my favorite place to camp! Away from the crowds and fantastic views! I'd highly suggest it.
