Drive the off road route called "Top of The World", rightly named for its astounding panoramic views and sheer drops after a long ride of ledges, boulders and off camber dirt road.
The off road trail called Top of the World is a dirt road meant for *OFF ROAD VEHICLES ONLY*. All wheel drives jeeps and trucks are most common on this route but it is frequented by ATV and Dirt Bike users as well. If you elect to hike this route be mindful of their presence and give off-road vehicles a wide berth.
The trail itself is 6.6 miles each way, and ends at a lookout point overlooking massive panoramic views of the Utah Landscape. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time for photos and rest at the top before the return journey home. The Off Road rating for this trail is between 6-7. Be sure to bring sufficient tools and gear to fix any issues that may arise with your vehicle because it's a very long walk to the nearest assistance. Cell phone service is surprisingly clear considering the remote location.
To access this trail from Moab, drive north to the turn off for Highway 128 that is just south of the Colorado River bridge on the north end of town. This is the same road that comes from the Cisco exit off of I-70. Take the highway 29.8 miles to the Dewey Bridge that used to cross the Colorado River. Turn right on Entrada Bluffs Road, or Rose Garden Hill. Take this dirt road 5.3 miles in to a turn right on a small road to find the sign for Top of the World.
This location is not suitable for children, if you elect to bring small children along for the ride be sure to keep them under close supervision. There are no safety features protecting travelers from the sheer drops off the view point. Utilize extreme caution around the upper edge of top of the world. For an extra special time be sure to bring lights and catch the sunset from this magnificent view.
