Description

Short but steep, Mount Aire provides incredible panoramic views of the Wasatch and Salt Lake City.

Mount Aire, standing around 8600 ft, certainly isn't the most inspiring peak in or around Salt Lake City, but to me it serves as a quick summit to catch the sunset when I'm short on time.

Getting There:

Start by heading up Mill Creek Canyon Rd. After passing the ranger booth, drive about 5.5 miles up the canyon. Mount Aire TH is on the left with ample parking.

The Hike:

It starts out fairly gradual but will start to rise steadily, mixing in some rocky and rooted steep sections. You'll venture through some meadow-like areas as well as pine forest. Right before hitting the switchbacks to the summit, you'll have a great view looking towards Antelope Island and the Great Salt Lake. Make sure to take the right that heads uphill to the summit. Only a few switchbacks left until you'll reach the summit.

Extra Info:

Dogs are allowed in Mill Creek Canyon any day but on odd days, they are allowed off-leash.

Hike Mt. Aire Reviews

If you're tired of Grandeur Peak and want a new Millcreek Peak, this is a great choice. Fall is beautiful. Last time I was there we saw a horny toad.

The trail from Mill Creek to Mt Aire is absolutely beautiful. Awesome hike to the peak, then even more fun run down to the bottom.
