Description

Distance: 5.5 miles roundtrip. Elevation gain: 2,445 ft. Neat spot to hang out (rope swings and stick structure). Easy to walk to. Multiple trail options.

From the parking lot, you will follow a 4-wheel drive track that runs straight up to the beginning of the different trailheads. You can also take an actual trail up to that same spot, situated below the 4-wheel gravel track on the righthand side.

There are a few different trails that merge together, but if you begin in the "epicenter", where the rope swings are located, you can take a trail that splits off to skier's left. As you follow that trail, you will eventually pass a small cave opening on the lefthand side. You can go down into this cave, which is really more of a short tunnel that doesn't go on as long as you would think.

Just past the cave opening, on the right, you will begin the rather steep incline towards the stand along rock with a hole in it (looks like an arch). Scale the mountain side if you can – it can get demanding, and you should wear good shoes as the dirt is loose or stripped.

You will end up with a great view of the Salt Lake Valley. Remember to be cautious when hiking back down!

Hike Neff's Canyon Reviews

Gradually gets more beautiful the further up the trail you go. It's super hot during the summer so I recommend this trail during get Autumn months. Be careful of crooks breaking into your car, I had my car broken into here.

Great hike on a fairly established trail. Lots of others on the lower ends but they trickle out by the top. Nice 3 or 4 hours!

Great hike! I was told the river there was new/temporary due to the snow melting so that was a cool addition to the scenery. I couldn't find the cave or the stone arch. Maybe next time!

So many dogs and so fun! The path is wide and clear but is a steep incline up until where the rope swing is, which my kids loved. We went later in the day so didn't make it to the top but a pleasant surprise were beautiful views of SLC, the Salt Lake, and the sunset!!! We plan to go earlier in the day so we can make it to the top. Lots of tree cover in the afternoon hours I highly recommend :)

Although I didn't find the arch featured in the pictures, we had a great day of hiking. The setting was beautiful, and the hike was family friendly.

I love to hike here and try and do it every week there are so many trails to go on and so little time. This is a must go for any one that loves to be in the outdoors
