Description

Hike to views over Park City, UT with beautiful wildflowers in the summer. Dogs are allowed off-leash on odd-days.

The trail begins at the parking lot at the very top of Millcreek, called Upper Big Water. The trail begins on the east side of the lot, where bathrooms are available. Walk to trail sign and head left to Old Pine Road Trail.

From there, the trail remains relatively flat with some steep gains. The trail can become overgrown when the area has had a lot of rain, only making it more beautiful. You will come across many open meadows.

About 1.8 miles up, you will reach a split in the road. Head left up the trail to gain views of Park City. You can also make it over to Big Cottonwood Canyon. Head right to return back down to the parking lot, or you can join the trail to Dog Lake.

It is best to go on this hike in the summer and autumn to be able to drive past the winter gate. If bringing a dog, be very aware of moose that are often seen along the trail.

Hike Old Red Pine Road Trail Reviews

I brought my kids up here on the 4th of July and couldn't take more than 5 steps before I had to photograph another flower. The variety was outstanding. Great family outing!
