Dominating Utah Valley, Mt. Timpanogos is a beautiful, difficult, must do hike.

Mt. Timpanogos is one of the most popular hiking destinations around the Salt Lake and Utah Valleys. Hundreds of people give everything they've got for this grueling hike each weekend. From the end of June, to end of August, Timp offers some of the most beautiful scenery that backpackers and hikers could find in Utah.

The hike via the Timpooneke trail is a steady incline all the way to the Timpanogos Basin. Getting there you will walk over little waterfalls, through wetland area and rocky ledges. Once in the Basin, you're treated to a beautiful array of blue, purple, white, and yellow wildflowers all around you, all the while Mt. Timp is staring down at you. Start making your way up to the Saddle next to the summit and you get your first views of Utah valley below. Up there at approximately 11,000 ft, you may encounter some curious mountain goats. However from here you still have .9 miles and 700 ft in elevation to go to the summit through steep, rocky climbs, and sketchy switchbacks. If you're afraid of heights, don't do this. But after all those hours hiking up, the reward of getting up to the summit is worth it. Sign the book, snap a selfie and have fun going down!

This hike is incredibly busy on weekends, people climb up at any hour of day or night to go up there.
