The best introduction to Moab riding.
If you're visiting Moab for some mountain biking, this is a great place to start. There's nothing too technical and plenty of route options and points to bail out if you're getting tired. Perhaps more importantly, you don't have to work that hard to find some quality riding and classic Moab views. At multiple spots along the trail you'll reach gorgeous scenes of the Colorado River winding it's way through the red rock valley below.
The trails themselves vary a decent amount with some really fun, flowy single track and Moab's famous slickrock. The gnarliest thing you'll come across are a few short drops/steps (depending on which way you're going). They're nothing too sketchy but newer riders may need to hop off to get over them.
The best advice is to start going counter clockwise from the parking lot and "choose your own adventure" so to speak...feel out the trails as you go, check the maps at each intersection and decide how much further you'd like to go. A good moderate loop would be to follow signs for Great Pyramid and Big Chief to Crossroads then work your way back on Prickly and Pair (that's just under 10 miles). If you want to cut it a little shorter, head down Raven Roll rather than Crossroads (about 8 miles). Alternatively, if you want to push it even further stay right the whole way around and complete the full loop on Whiptail and Twister tree before connecting with Prickly and Pair for a full loop of 14 miles.
There's a visitor center and a small snack bar in the parking lot with pretty tasty smoothies - great way to wrap up a ride in the desert sun.
