Kanab's Peek-a-Book Canyon is an awesome slot canyon that's a moderate hike and not as crowded as other in major parks. En route to the canyon, you'll enjoy an exciting off-roading adventure while getting to the canyon.

The trailhead is Red Canyon (aka Peek-a-boo) trailhead located just off of Highway 89 between Kanab and Mt. Carmel Junction. The GPX track shows the entirety of the trail, but if you have 4WD and a high-clearance vehicle, you're able to reach the closer parking area for a less than 1-mile roundtrip hike.

This is not the same Peek-a-Boo slot canyon found in the Escalante area

4-wheel drive is needed to get to the destination and airing down the tires is strongly recommended. VERY Sandy. There are two sections of slot canyons and it opens up in the middle. The trail ends with a dry fall that is not climbable. Short distance to walk in and out. Great for families.

I used the parking area just of 89 to run there and back. If you plan to run/hike be aware that it's very sandy, downhill on the there (which means uphill on the way back), and you need to be very aware that it's mostly an ATV road so don't wear headphones and be ready to move out the way of jeeps/ATVs.

This is a short but sweet and simple slot that is a great introduction. with 4x4 you can get very close access and do this slot without breaking a sweat, but it sure is beautiful and worth a little hiking if needed.

Sandstone slot canyons are always fun, and Peek-a-Boo Canyon definitely lives up to it's name. Definitely a must do if you're in the area!
