Description

Added by Jack Bradford

Quiet, serene, peaceful hike between towering mountains and beautiful pine trees.

The Rock Canyon trail is a heavily trafficked path that brings people of all ages.  In the winter the mountains are covered in snow and the path is well packed down due to the volume of people that are hiking.  After about a mile of hiking, you will enter the more dense part of the canyon with lots of vegetation.  The river was mostly covered in snow, but some parts were still flowing.

The Rock Canyon trail eventually splits into trails toward the Squaw Peak or towards a service road and the Big Springs trail adventure here.  As you trek farther into the canyon, the packed snow gets smaller as less people make it too far.  Families are always together on the trail because it is so close to the city.  However the trail is a steady, moderate incline the whole way.
