Butler Lodge is nestled in the foothills of Underhill, Vermont.
This is a gorgeous, 3.6 mile hike that is doable year round (but may require snowshoes in the winter). Butler Lodge is a historical paradise - originally built in 1933, the cabin was rebuilt in 2000 by some Green Mountain Club Volunteers. Butler Lodge is now a year-round shelter for hikers. There is a $5 / night fee from May - October. The maximum number of people that can fit in the sleeping platform and loft is 14, but in the late fall, winter, and early spring, there is usually space for everyone. A nearby water source is helpful for cooking (but should be treated).
Dog are allowed on this trail but must be kept on leash. If you want to switch up your path on the way down, try the Rockgarden and Frost Trails. Bug spray is recommended.
