A Fun Rock Crawl in Shenandoah NP - The Bearfence Mountain 360 Degree View

With my fourth visit, I was fortunate enough to hike the Bearfence trailhead here at Shenandoah National Park to view this scenic, and romantic 360-degree view from above the mountain. It was a perfect time to visit when the foliage was a beautiful pallet on Gods canvas.

The parking lot for the Bearfence Trailhead is right after mile-marker 55 off Skyline Drive. The parking lot has plenty of spaces being a popular spot in the park. After getting geared up with the required list below, you’ll follow the trail by crossing Skyline drive. There is a 311-foot elevation gain on this hike, and is about one mile to reach the top. The trail is a little challenging, so take your time - you don’t want to burn out before the journey has begun. With it being a rock crawl, maneuvering all kinds of ways is really fun. Take your time, and find good footing and grips for your hands to grasp on. Make sure you pay attention so you don’t roll your ankles or slip on any sharp rocks. Once you reach the top, you’ll be greeted by a 360-degree view of the park. The fall colors from this is breathtakingly beautiful. Take your time to soak in the views, hydrate on water, and fuel up on some protein bars to help you recover. Depending on the weather, dress accordingly and you’ll be fine.
