About this place

Added by Grace Brookshire

A beautiful bike or hike through the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. Camp in the woods and swim in the sea.

It's hard to beat an outdoor adventure that keeps you near the ocean's edge. For this destination, getting there is possibly the best part. The trail is well kept and level; perfect for an easy bike ride or hike. An easy trail due to lack of incline (after all, it is by the sea). For the first few miles, you will follow the dunes where several ramps provide access to the beach. As a wildlife refugee, the beach is a beautiful escape from the touristy oceanfront. If you plan to just hike for the day, the park service offers parking. However, if you are camping overnight you must begin your journey a little further down the beach. There is plenty of overnight parking on beach house streets (where designated) or in a large parking right outside the Wildlife interest.
