Visit the location where it all started for our great nation! Great Food, Beer and Reenactments!

Williamsburg, Virginia , founded in 1632, is one of the oldest cities in America. The city has played major roles in American history as the capital of Virginia and as a political center for the American Revolution. Today the city offers an abundance of museums, beautiful bed and breakfasts, and live reenactments. The city is considered a living history museum, with active role players in colonial attire. The actors tend to beautiful gardens, fire colonial weapons, perform blacksmith work and provide a wealth of knowledge. You can walk around the city for hours, or go for a colonial horse carriage ride. The city is fun for the entire family to learn about our nations history before, during and after the American Revolution. The kids will love to pet the animals and watch the soldiers fire their muskets. The city also offers great hotels or a authentic colonial B&B for that romantic weekend with your significant other. The modern section of Williamsburg has endless shops, and restaurants. The entire city is covered in beautiful gardens, cobblestone streets and red brick homes. After you work up a hunger, head down to the DoG Street Pub. This Gastropub offers over a hundred different craft beers from all over the world and the food is amazing. Try the Ploughman's lunch to start!

Visit Colonial Williamsburg Reviews

Colonial Williamsburg is A MUST. This historic town has so much to offer, and has some great trails around the area. Check out the "Cheese Shop" it is the best food around!

I volunteered at Colonial Williamsburg (or CW as we call it) and had such a wonderful time. This is truly a special place and great for the whole family. Be sure to checkout the Powell House and the capital. You won’t regret it!

Growing up in SE Virginia, I visited Colonial Williamsburg many times as a kid. But, visiting as an adult makes it all the more special as I truly understand the history and value of the memories preserved in this special place.

Definitely explore this historic area if you're visiting William and Mary (or the other way around). It's a great town with a lot of fun activities for kids/families.

I am not super into touristy things, but still had a nice time! We spent a half day here. Learned a lot. Didn't pay for any extra activities, went into the free stuff. We even walked down to William and Mary, which was a pretty campus. Don't think I'll ever need to go back here, but again, happy I had the opportunity to go b/c it's so historical.

For over a decade, every New Years my family and I would go to the resorts in Williamsburg and relax and shop. Visiting the colonial historic area became a tradition.
