Hike 0.5 miles past Pratt Lake for a more isolated campsite at Tuscohatchie Lake. Get amazing views of waterfalls and lakes on the way up the trail. Wake up early and get the trails to yourself for a morning run. Duration: Overnight.

This is a beginner to intermediate hike, at the first mile the trail has it first break where you can go up to the Lookout. If you continue going straight, you'll find waterfalls and lakes on the trail. 2.5 Miles in on the trail is another turn to Ollalie and Talapus Lake. Continue onto the 4-mile maker and you will find another turn one to Island Lake and the other to Pratt Lake.

Pratt Lake is everyone's favorite destination, but hardly anyone goes the extra 1/2 mile to Lower Tuscohatchie Lake (photo of Lower Tuscohathie Lake) here I set up base camp and ran towards Kalateen Lake and then back up to Melakwa Lake. Hardly anyone on the trail and nothing but the peace and quiet of Mother Nature. The trip can be as long as you want ranging from 6 miles round trip to 22 miles round trip in one day

You will need to pay for parking. The daily pass is $5, which allows you to make this a day trip or a overnight trip..

I always go to Red Robin in Issaquah after each adventure in the mountains.

To get to the Pratt Lake trail from Seattle drive east on I-90 to exit 47 (Asahel Curtis/Denny Creek). Turn north over the freeway, turn left at the T, and drive to the nearby Pratt Lake-Granite Mountain Lookout parking area. 95 percent of the folks who come here will head to the Lookout only 5 percent of the folks will head to the lakes.

Camp and Trail Run from Tuscohatchie Lake Reviews

Pratt Lake Basin is an amazing hike. Spending the night at Tuscohatchie Lake was the best idea our group had - our plan had been to spend the night at Melakwa Lake, but when we stumbled upon Tuscohatchie we couldn't resist spending the night. We stayed close to the trail on a small flat area (that might have been cleared by humans) RIGHT next to the exit stream, which is more of a waterfall than a stream! We then explored the lake the following day, skinny-dipping, swimming to the far end, laughing, and having fun! From the time we left Pratt Lake (most people's destination) we didn't see a single soul, until we were packed up and leaving late afternoon the next day. A beautiful hike!
