From Golden Gardens Park, enjoy beautiful views of the Olympics and Puget Sound. There is a nice sandy beach, perfect for lounging. Beach bonfires in Seattle? Yes, please.
Golden Gardens Park is a beautiful, sandy gem that’s perfect for spending a sunny summer day lounging on the beach, exploring the shore, stand up paddling, or even playing beach volleyball. This park also features some of my favorite views in Seattle. As day turns to night, enjoy a beautiful sunset with friends and prepare to get that bonfire going!
This is a popular summer spot, and the 12 fire pits are first-come, first-served, so your best bet is getting there early in the day and posting up. Parking can also be a bit of a challenge on nice days.
Please help do your part in keeping this park clean.
There is a dog off-leash area of the park. Head to Seattle.Gov/Parks for a map of this area.

Golden Gardens Park Reviews
My review is solely based on the sunset we experienced last August 2017 (pic uploaded). We made it to the park approx. an hour before sun down and just posted up to take in the beautiful sunset. It did not disappoint. We actually ended up here chasing some Orcas that were traveling up the coast. So, not only did we get to see the Orcas swimming by, but we got to experience a truly epic sunset. Whales, sail boats, and mountains. Oh my!

Paddlers, runners, volleyballers - this beach is always packed near sunset for a few good reasons. There's a great event center here that I've seen rented out for all types of celebrations. If the parking lot is full, turn right under the bridge on the southeast side of the beach to find a whole hidden alcove of roadside dirt parking opportunities. Definitely worth the drive from the city center.

Posted up about 3pm on a Thursday in July to make sure we secured a spot. There were still a handful of fire pits left at that time. Such a fun night, definitely a Seattle staple!

On those warm summer days get there early to grab a prime spot, parking can also be difficult when the park is busy so best to get there early and enjoy a BBQ while you get your fire going. Enjoy good company, food and views to take in the sunset while at Golden Gardens.
A classic rite of passage for all new arrivals to Seattle. Get there early & spend most of the afternoon if you want a good spot on the beach for sunset.
