Samish Overlook is relatively easy to access and one of the best spots for amazing panoramic views of sunrise and sunset near Bellingham, Washington.

The sunset is amazing at Sammish Overlook. The view is the definition of panoramic and you almost have to strain your eyes because there is so much to look at. Plan to arrive before sunset if you want to capture some photos. This is a great "date spot" and you're likely to see couples up here picnicking.

Directions: From Bellingham W.A., follow I-5 south to exit 240 and turn right (west) onto Lake Samish Road. Take the first left onto Barrel Springs Road, and follow it 0.6 miles. Come to a sign indicating “Blanchard Hill Trail System” and gravel road B1000; turn right. In 1.6 miles, watch for the sign for “Samish Overlook” and turn left on B2000. Pass through the yellow gate (open one hour before sunrise to one hour past sunset) and continue 2.2 miles to the Samish Overlook trailhead. The road is steep at points but I managed it fine without a 4x4 vehicle.
