Hike Ebey's Landing
Coupeville, Washington
Description
Added by Beau Ramsey
3.5 miles Roundtrip and 260' of elevation gain. Amazing Views from the Bluff. One of the best beach/island hikes around. Easy for all types of skill level.
Just walk straight past the restroom to find the start of the trail route. The Bluff trail heads up a set of stairs to the top of the hillside on the right. After climbing the stairs, you come right up on farmland (Ebey's Prairie), with a grassy two-track trail leading up toward the top of the bluff. Be sure to turn around, because on clear days you can see Mt. Baker in the distance. Past this intersection you enter the Robert Y Pratt Preserve owned by the Nature Conservancy. This is the steepest uphill section of the hike. The rest of the Bluff Trail is a single track narrow path. As you round the bend you will begin to see Perego's Lagoon below.
After what seems like a fairly long time, the trail does offer a couple of paths down to the beach. Pick which way you would like to go, and in the end, all the trails wind up down at the beach. After nearly 2 miles of beach walking, you reach the parking lot and the end of the hike.
The parking lot is fairly small and requires a Discover Pass for parking. It appears there is also free street parking just past the parking lot. The area is mainly a beach area, so you will see other folks enjoying this very nice beach. There is a restroom near the parking lot - but no water, so remember to bring plenty. I'm sure on weekends in the summer it can become a popular hike.
Driving Directions:From Mukilteo, take the ferry over to Clinton. Be aware that there is a toll associated with the ferry. Head north on SR-525 for 19 miles to a junction with SR-20. Continue straight on for approx. 5 miles to the town of Coupeville, and continue north on SR-20 for approx. 1 mile. Turn left onto Sherman Road and continue until you reach a right turn for Cook Road. Drive to the end of Cook Road to the Prairie Overlook trailhead, located directly across from a cemetery.

Hike Ebey's Landing Reviews
This is a beautiful hike + it's in the rain shadow, so it gets less rain than Seattle! To add an extra 1/2 mile each way, you can start at the Prairie Overlook Trailhead across from Sunnyside Cemetery.
