With views of the northern Washington volcanoes and a historic lookout, Green Mountain is an excellent climb to break free of the crowds. Towards the end of Summer and into Fall, the foliage turns vibrant colors and has many mountain blueberries to snack on.

After the long drive down FR 26, turn onto FR 2680. 6 miles down the road, you'll see what slightly resembles a trail to your left. Park and prepare for your gorgeous hike!

The trail starts with a 1.5 mile windy trek through the woods. You'll pop out onto the lush meadows of the mountain sides. Here you'll already have views of White Chuck and Glacier Peak.

These meadows are full of wildflowers in the Summer, and vibrant colors during the fall. Any season will be a great time to take a stroll up the trail through the meadows.

The switchbacks continue on as you travel through the meadows, and after about another mile you arrive at a destination full of blueberries. Spend some time enjoying these delicious little snacks.

At this point of the hike, you will start to descend roughly 100ft in elevation. You'll pass a couple small ponds as you make your way towards the final climb to the lookout. With 1,300ft left in elevation, make your way up the switchbacks. Each switchback offers even more views to distract you from the pain of the climb.

From the lookout (6500'), you will have excellent views of the Cascades on a clear day. However, because this hike is very exposed, weather can change pretty quickly so make sure to pack warm clothes and windbreakers just in case.
