Ski Tour the Enchantments
Leavenworth, Washington
Description
Added by Mitch Pittman
Tour through one of Washington's favorite gems with an 18 mile roundtrip approach via Aasgard Pass. This beautiful setting offer varied terrain and a challenging approach to enjoy solitude.
The Enchantments is one of the most beautiful spots in Washington, but rarely visited outside the summer months, when access is merely difficult. But for those brave souls with the knowledge and determination to ski these hallowed slopes, the experience is surreal.
The approach up Aasgard Pass is more direct but can be prone to avalanches, so check the forecast before heading up. An alternate approach is via Snow Lakes, but is longer.
Once in the Core section, the possibilities for lines are truly endless. Ski the steeps off Dragontail or cruise down Little Annapurna or Enchantment Peaks. The entire area is your playground - it's almost guaranteed you'll have the whole valley to yourself.
This backcountry adventure requires commitment, and almost certainly multiple days. Knowledge of avalanche risks and snow travel is a must.
