Camp at Yokum's Vacationland

Seneca Rocks, West Virginia

Description

Added by Mallory McCrea

Seneca Rocks is one of the most popular and one of few true rock climbing spots in the Midwest. Located on the Potomac River in Pendleton County, West Virginia. For non-rock climbers it's a camping and hiking gem in the West Virginia countryside and isn't short on views!

With warm weather, we couldn't wait to go camping so we drove a few miles south of us to Yokum's Vacationland to camp in a teepee. It was THE BEST! It was so cold and we forgot our air mattress pump so we ended up car camping but the whole adventure was so awesome. We were the only people camping but the next morning for our hike to Seneca Rocks we met several other hikers and cyclists enjoying the little spot that seemed to be hidden from the rest of the world!

You can hike from the Seneca Rocks parking lot up to the top of Seneca Rocks, a popular bouldering & climbing spot because of it's vertical rock formations. The hike itself was a short out and back trail but adventuring around the rocks could occupy a good hour or two in addition to the hour or so hike up and down. They actually host a pretty popular climbing course in the summer we were told.
