This short trail offers arguably the best view of the New River Gorge bridge in the area.

With minimal elevation gain, this 3.2 mile hike can be done in a short amount of time. From the parking lot, take the trail to the right of the bathroom. There will be two trail intersections at 0.4 miles and 0.7 miles, both of which are well marked. Stay straight at both intersections to remain on the Long Point Trail.

Near the end of the trail, you will descend fairly steeply through some thick rhododendrons, then emerge onto Long Point. The view has great views of the New River Gorge Bridge as well as in the opposite direction into the gorge itself. Keep in mind that these cliffs are fairly narrow and have steep drop offs, so be mindful of your surroundings.

To return to the parking lot, simply retrace your steps 1.6 miles back to your car.

My wife and I did this hike with our family. All four of our girls ages 4months up to 8 years old. Very easy and enjoyable hike. Really great trail. The last bit of the trail down to the point is steeper and narrower but very doable with kids. Worth the effort!
