Description

Added by Matthew David

Seneca Rocks allows for climbers of all experience levels to scale the scenic rocks as well as hike up the mountain to view the beautiful overlook of the valley and mountains below.

Park at the Seneca Rocks visitor parking spot located just off Mountaineer Drive. Take the trail directly across from the lot, cross the bridge over the stream, and follow the trail about one mile until you see a rock stair trail on your left side (Seneca Rocks side). Follow this rock stair trail up until the stairs turn wooden. At the top of these wooden stairs is the first great spot to climb (beginner to intermediate level).

Routes of increasing difficulty can be found in the surrounding area and farther up the mountain. Watch for loose rocks when hiking up the mountain as they are plentiful. There are many beautiful overlooks that are nice spots to have lunch or take pictures. To return home, simply follow the wood to rock stair path down the mountain and then take the original trail back to the parking lot.
