The Medicine Bow mountains of the Snowy Range in-between Saratoga and Laramie, Wyo., off of state Route 130 is a hidden gem worth seeing!
You can pick up SR 130 off of I-80 near Rock Springs. The route takes you south to Saratoga and then east to Laramie via the Medicine Bow pass. At the top of the pass is the trailhead and picnic area for the summit trail near Lake Marie. There is a large parking lot near the trailhead that fills up on summer weekends. The wildflowers are beautiful and the mountains have snow year-round. It is worth the drive off the Interstate to go through the pass. You can pick up I-80 again once you get to Laramie. The only downfall is the bathrooms run out of supplies quickly and there are only two vault toilets. On busy weekends there is a line and it's best to bring your own toilet paper.
