Beautiful 30 mile ride through the Western Sierra's.
Starting at Shaver Lake (5,500'), this beautiful approximately 2 hour spin through the Sierra gradually climbs 1,600' through high alpine forest and meadows before the steep descent into Dinkey Creek. You can stop there or take the McKinley Grove Road as far as you want. There is a small general store at Dinkey Creek that is perfect for grabbing a drink and a snack before climbing back up and over to Shaver Lake.
Dinkey Creek Road is a two-lane blacktop. The shoulder is not as wide as one would like but the road is not extremely busy. An early start will avoid the traffic, treat you to a symphony of songbirds, and get you back to Shaver for a dip in its crystal clear water just as the temps reach the point for some beach time. Absolutely beautiful!
