Jump on some classic routes in Yosemite Valley.

Some of the best bouldering in Yosemite Valley is on these polished granite boulders. This is an incredibly popular spot, especially during the summer months because of the tourist season. There's a small parking lot for Camp 4, but if that fills up, you'll have to park elsewhere and either walk to the spot or take a valley bus over. From the parking lot, walk straight into the campground and you'll immediately see the big Columbia Boulder. There's tons of boulders all around this area. If you're looking to also hike, the trailhead for Upper Yosemite Falls starts from Camp 4.

Since this climbing spot is located at a campground, there's bathrooms right next to the Big Columbia boulder. If you get hungry and didn't bring anything to eat, walk over across the street to the Yosemite Lodge. There's a cafe and some shops.

This is mainly a bouldering area, but if you walk past the parking lot and towards the Yosemite Falls bus stop, there's some excellent rope climbs -- top rope and trad. Again, a very popular area so expect crowds. An excellent warmup is Swan Slab (5.6).

Yosemite Park Entrance Fee:
Car (7 day pass) -- $30 April to Oct, $25 other months
Individual (7 day pass) -- $15
Motorcycle (7 day pass) -- $20

Some notable classic climbs:
Midnight Lightning (V8)

Torque Spanner (V8)
King Cobra (V8R)
The Force (V9)
Thriller (V9)
Cocaine Corner (V5)
Kor Problem (V3)
Ver's Werner (V2)
Initial Friction (V1)

Rock Climb in Camp 4 Reviews

Great place to gather around like minded folks. Play around or practice on some of the big boulders. People around are very supportive and cheer you on!

Camp 4 in Yosemite National Park Valley was the birth place for rock climbing in the US. Camp 4 was also the first place I ever rock climbed. It is a super inspirational place and all around a amazing place to climb and adventure!
