Ski and Snowboard Mammoth Reviews

One of the best mountains in California

This is my home mountain. I grew up skiing here. I've skied at a lot of places including Whistler, Breckenridge, Deer Valley, Lake Tahoe area, and it's pretty hard to beat Mammoth. My favorite thing has got to be the people. All the workers on the mountain and in town are some of the friendliest and most helpful people you'll ever meet. Skiers are super friendly too! Chair chat is the super easy and lots of fun people on the mountain. Pro-tip: the Florentine scramble at Main Lodge might just be the best breakfast ever, make sure to stop by and get it at some point!

We spend a good part of ski season commuting back and forth from LA to Mammoth and it's well worth the drive (or flight). Best mountain in California with great amenities and food. Lots to do even if you don't snowboard or ski. Plenty of terrain and almost all converted to high speed quads so freezing on the chair time is minimal. Actually there's little freezing on the chair anyway because it's sunny so often! Even when the snow isn't that great (drought), the weather cannot be beat!

I grew skiing Mammoth, so I've headed there more than a few seasons. My favorite lodge to get started from is Eagle. Get there early to get ahead of the crowds then ski down to 9 -- snow permitting. You can get plenty of great runs on this side of the mountain while avoiding some of the more crowded parts of the mountain. Other favorites include chairs 5, 12, 13&14 and if the snow is good, 25. If the weather is decent, outpost 14 and the Mill are great places to grab a bite outside. The Mill is also great for apres as you can catch the shuttle back if needed.
