We traveled up the road in an F 350 duly 4 door with an 8’ bed. This road is really a 1 vehicle wide road with very few places to pass another one. The 4.4 mile ride took almost an hour, with .5 miles to go the road got to rough and rocky to safely continue without possible damage or getting stuck. Big enough spot to park and turn the big truck around. 3 very tight up hill turns needed to be done in two steps to avoid going over the edge. Highly recommend at least 10” of clearance if you want to try to attempt the drive up. You could walk when the rocks and ruts get to big. Just find one of the few spots that allow room to get off the road. We where there 10/07/23, well worth the drive or walk, beautiful at the top of the tower. The first 12 steps are missing, the angle iron on the sides are good for climbing up. There was a plank missing on one platform, other than that and 50 mile an hour wind it was a great memorable adventure. Last week of October will be best for color in the mountains
