I love this reserve and agree, it is not as crowded as Muir Woods and has some of the most beautiful old growth groves. If you can get there during early morning hours on a weekday, it's such a treat with the morning light and quiet atmosphere. It's fun to make an adventure day out of a visit here! We added on a canoe trip on the nearby Russian River. And then you probably need to stop in to the Russian River Brewing Co. on your way home. =)

I'm so glad you emphasize the sacredness of this rock to the aboriginal people there. I completely agree, there is something so surreal and moving about being here and hiking the base. Thank you for highlighting the importance of maintaining cultural sensitivity toward the Anangu, and being conservation-minded for those choosing to visit and explore here.

We've hiked the Fancy Creek trail to Fancy Lake in the summer months and it is such a rewarding open environment. The wildflowers, lush green and waterfalls are all just beautiful.

We can't get enough of these trails! This loop is wonderful for families with kids in tow, along with incredible photography opportunities as you mention. =) Love it!

This was more or less my first loop hike in northern MN in the fall, and it was absolutely well worth it. Aim for peak fall-color time and you won't be disappointed in the least!

I arrived early morning when it was still very dark, and was able to catch the sun coming up and slowly burning off heavy fog which made for some wonderful reflections from the sun's rays. Such a gorgeous photography location!! Wonderful photos you have!
