If you go to great sand dunes NP, then you have to go sand sledding. If you go sand sledding, then you have to hike all the way to the top and slide all the way down. Would highly recommend, most definitely the cherry on top for this trip. Make sure that you rent a sled, not a board. Boards are pretty hard and I would only only recommend for the most experienced snowboarders. Even then, it isn’t easy. Sledding is definitely the way to go. I oils also go early enough in the year so that the creek has water in it. And just be careful, on sunny days, the sand can become scorching and not very nice to bare feet. Once again, loved it and and would highly recommend it!

In reality, the lunch loops is a large conglomerate of trails. There is a variety to choose from. If you are mountain biking, and want some thing, a little easier, there is quite a few green ones to choose from. If you’re more advanced, well, let’s just say there is no shortage of fun here! as for hiking or trail running, everyone here is very nice and accommodating, and it is nice to walk a trail slowly, and just soak in the beauty of nature.

This is a beautiful trail that is all relatively flat. During the winter, it is a delight to ski or snowshoe, and during the summer it is a last to hike or mountain bike. It is not a very difficult trail at all, and it still has very rewarding features. if you enjoy this, I would also recommend driving a little further to the skyway trail head. It has a large array of various trails as well.

If you enjoy trail running, it is a challenge. If you love hiking, it is exhilarating. If you don’t like to walk, then I would recommend just driving over the Mesa. This is a long trail but very rewarding. I have hiked it multiple times and have loved it each time. It starts out at the trailhead just off of Highway 65, and the beginning of the trail is relatively steep. It flattens out for a little while, but then you have the strenuous hike to the summit. There, you will find stunning views, and also possibly chilly temperatures. I have made the mistake of not bringing a jacket on a seemingly warm spring/summer day and regretting it. After the summit, it is mostly downhill, and then a long period of relatively flat trail back to the cars. I would plan on a day to do this, and maybe even bring a snack lunch. Just remember to pack everything out. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do!
